Enhancing Understanding to Enhance Lives - for groups of up to 10 learners
Service Description
A transformative full‑day course for teams who want to deepen their dementia expertise and strengthen compassionate, confident leadership. This programme builds on our half‑day awareness training and expands into advanced practice, culture change, and emotionally intelligent care. What this course delivers Learners will: - Assess different types of dementia and explain how each affects cognition, behaviour and function - Connect with those they care for in a way that nurtures well-being. - Be proactive in reducing the incidence of distressed behaviour - Be confident, assertive and compassionate with people experiencing distress - Show resilience in the face of stressful environments - Role-model person-centred care through person-centred leadership - Make changes to the care environment and practices that will reduce distress and enhance comfort. Why it matters We explore how perception, communication, environment and unmet needs shape behaviour — and how small, intentional changes can reduce distress and improve quality of life. Leaders also gain practical tools for shaping culture, supporting staff wellbeing, and modelling reflective, emotionally safe practice. Practical details - The course is aligned with Tier 3 of the National Dementia Training Framework - Group size: Maximum of 10 learners (to maximise interaction and emotional safety) - Delivery: Online, with face‑to‑face options for block bookings - Scheduling: Weekend sessions available - Payment: No upfront cost — invoices issued after delivery
